The Maroon Bells are the famous peaks near Aspen, but they’re surrounded by beautiful mountains. While walking away from the Bells to move on with the road trip, I was struck by the belt of vibrant fall colors around these mountains. A steady stream of hikers walked on the nearby path, and they’ve taken on a ghostly appearance thanks to the effects of combining multiple exposures for HDR processing. I thought about photoshopping them out, but I decided they add a creepy twist to the image.
